I can’t believe it has taken me so long to get a post out. Life has been hectic, Brussels got hit by terrorists, the kids have had so much on lately, I feel like I have been all over the place, and yet nowhere. I guess we all can relate to that feeling!

Anyways, I have kept up the steady stream of reading, and have a ton of books to share with you. I thought I would start with this very impressive, surprising read, that has me wanting to reread it again now I’m posting this review. If you have the time, be sure to pick it up, and give it a go, you will not regret it!!! This book takes romantic suspense to a whole other level!!!

Book

Pimpernel by Sheralyn Pratt

For centuries, the elite of the world have sought the Pimpernel everywhere. Some want to kill him, others want to hire him, but Jack Cavanaugh knows that the love/hate relationship comes with the job title.

At present, Jack is trying to dismantle an investment scheme centered in Las Vegas, but “trying” is the operative word. It’s been a month since he put the face of the scheme behind bars, yet the scam is still going strong. As Jack tries to uncover who has stepped in as the new head, what miniscule evidence there is all seems to point him back to Claire Ramsey, an introverted PhD student studying at UNLV.

If ever there as an unlikely head of an investment scheme, Claire’s it. She has a genius IQ, but from all Jack has seen, Claire’s intelligence is as much a blessing as a curse when paired up with her acute OCD. Claire can barely make conversation with the cute guy down the hall, which makes it hard to believe she could be the charismatic salesperson who is getting international businessmen to invest $5—50 million a pop.

So what is Jack missing? What is the real story behind Claire Ramsey? And once Jack learns it, will he be able to walk away?

Review

The book description is what pulled me in and got me into reading and reviewing this book. It sounded so intriguing, nothing like my regular kind of read, I had to give it a go.

Boy did this book deliver, and then some. I think this has real potential of becoming a Blockbuster movie.

Claire is a complex, OCD driven genius, willing to do almost anything to save the man she things she loves. So she finds herself smackdab in the middle of a terrifying scam, ripping off some very high end people. She is hanging on by a thread, and in desperate need of someone to stop her from doing irreparable damage.

Jack has his eye on Claire, and wants to save her, but first he needs to figure out if she is in on the scam or a real victim like he suspects.

Jack is after Claire, but will she trust him to help her, or will she do something stupid?

This book was so exciting. It really was a high speed, action packed, mystery read, with some great romantic tension. I loved all the uncertainties, having to read to find out all the pieces to the puzzle, keeping the tension going to the very end, and throwing in a few very surprising twists in the whole plot. This had me turning page after page, being truly immersed in this world of disguises and scheming, plotting and guessing, it was a very thrilling read. I truly enjoyed it, and got very attached to the characters. Not only were the main roles very well developed, but the supporting cast was so fascinating, that I sincerely hope to read a sequel very, very soon! I can’t wait to get a bit more of Claire and Jack, but definitely Kali’s full story, and Ren and Margot deserve their own one as well. I am sold for 2 more books at least, and eagerly awaiting 🙂
